frequently asked questions

What is Organic Food vs Natural Food?

In December 2000, USDA established a national standard for the term “organic”. Organic food must be produced without the use of fertilizers, pesticides, genetic engineering, growth hormones, irradiation and antibiotics. “Organic” does not mean “Natural”. Natural food is minimally processed and is preservative-free. Natural foods can include organic foods, but not all natural foods are organic. Only foods labeled “organic” have been certified as meeting USDA organic standards.

Yummy Flavor Combinations

I thought it would be helpful to share some practical information regarding the baby food you just purchased.

Based on many experiments I have conducted with my two children, I highly recommend using sweet potatoes as often as possible as the primary ingredient in the main meal. Yesterday I fed my ten month old son sweet potatoes, spinach, cauliflower, and chicken. He loved it! Sweet potato is a mild, nutritious and attractive ingredient to mix with almost anything.

Check out our flavor guides for more delicious fruit and vegetable combinations. All of the vegetable combinations taste wonderful with meats and fish. You can also add parsley or basil to the combination and your baby will inhale the food.

Most experts recommend that when your baby is ready for three meals a day, it is a good idea to offer hot cereal with fruit cubes in the morning. Yogurt is an excellent ingredient for 6 month old babies to enjoy with fruit or vegetable cubes. Yogurt two to three times a week helps to maintain the natural and protective bacteria in the digestive system of the baby.

Please remember to offer water or juice to your baby during and between the meals.

Good luck and have fun!
